The Verdict Is In

Sorry for the lack in posts the last little while but we've been a little busy with a certain someone turning the big 01! (Pictures to come later when I have more time.)

Anyways. . . I finally finished The Host about a week ago and the verdict is in. . . I LOVED IT! So all you Meyer fans out there that have read it. . . What did you think? Do you think there will be a second? And everyone one else that hasn't read it. . . you need to!

I'm now almost done with the first book in The Chronicles of Narnia series and am on the waiting list for City of Bones. Oh, the joys of reading! Love it!

Pictures

Just wanted to share some more cute pictures of my growing peanut...I bought these PJ's before she was even born and then almost completely forgot about them! They're my favorite! They are so soft and cuddly - just like my Peanut! (Sorry, the top one is pretty poor quality but it's the only one I got of her smiling.)
She LOVES her walker and has been cruising all over the place lately!
Even though we couldn't go to church, we dressed up so that it'd feel more like Sunday
She's now really good at standing up while holding on to things

Play Time

We had a little play day with our friends that live behind us yesterday and it was a lot of fun! It was so fun to watch Peanut with someone her age.
First we went for a little wagon ride
Hadlee kept taking Peanut's toys and she'd just look at her like, "Why'd you do that?" It was the cutest! Then after some lunch and naps it was pool time!
I LOVE Hadlee's hair in these ones! Isn't she just the cutest!?
Peanut absolutely loved the little pool!
She sat in there and played for hours!
You probably didn't notice the big difference in the last two pictures so I'll point it out cause it's WAY exciting...In the top one Peanut still has her PICC line in (it's all wrapped up with saran wrap and co-flex to keep it safe from water) and then in the one below it's gone! Yippee! Yep, we took a little break during pool time and got her PICC line removed. This is a big step in the right direction and we're so happy!

Thanks Mal and Hadlee for such a fun time! We're so glad that we have such great neighbors and friends!

Peanut Report

We go to the doctor every week, I just didn't want to bore you with the details every time. But I figured that it's about time for a report on how Peanut is doing. . .
She weighs about 8.9 kg which converts to about 19.5 lbs and is almost 27 in tall -that's 2+ whole inches since transplant! Yea! Keep growing Peanut!

Everything checks out okay. Her liver's doing great. Some of her other "numbers" are back to normal and some others are progressing in that direction. She'll probably get her PICC line out next Monday which is happy and sad. . . Happy because it's one less tube, one less risk of infection, AND Peanut will be able to play freely in the bathtub! Sad because then we'll have to go to the hospital super early in the morning every other week for Peanut to get poked! Poor thing!

She seems to be doing a tiny bit better with eating. She had diced pears last night and LOVED them. Tried them again today and she wanted nothing to do with them! She LOVES Townhouse crackers and Twizzlers but HATES pureed baby food. She'll take about one drink out of a non-spill-proof sippy cup and then pour the rest on the floor. Every feeding session ends in one big cleaning session! But hey! Whatever gets her to eat! There has been many discussions about getting a g-tube (a feeding tube that goes straight to your stomach) but the doctor doesn't think that's the right thing for her right now. We'll re-evaluate in a month or so and if Peanut hasn't progressed enough then we'll probably discuss it with the surgeon.

She'll stand on her feet more and can cruse all over in her walker (she mostly goes backwards but at least she's moving!) She'll roll over in about 0.2 seconds if you ever put her on her belly and is getting really good at sitting and reaching for faraway toys.

All-in-all, she's making progress and is just as cute as ever! I love my little peanut!
She also loves to play Nintendo. (Above picture was taken at Luke's work a week or so ago. Luke watched her while I went to dinner with my family for my sister's graduation and this is what I came back to. Haha! Like father, like daughter!)

My First Mother's Day

Thanks Luke and Peanut for The Host! -Now if only I could find the time to read it!

Thanks Mom for the night out, frozen custard, and piano money! -You sneaky little stinker!

And thanks Momma Rose for the adorable apron! -I think the bread tasted better because I wore the new apron while making it!

Getting to Know Me Part 2

I've seen these on other blogs and LOVE to read them! So I'm going to do it about myself.

25 Things You May Not Know About Me:

1. I LOVE sweets! We can't have any unhealthy snacks in the house because I eat them ALL! I could seriously eat a whole pan of brownies in less than 24 hours!
2. I'm obsessed with organization and having everything in a place. You may not think this if you ever came to my house due to all the random stacks of papers and envelopes and crap, but for example, whenever I make our bed I ALWAYS arrange Luke's book and scriptures on the bed side table - he'll move them again that night and I'll move them back the next morning! Pathetic I know!
3. I'm extremely shy until you get to know me (even then I'm still shy sometimes). I'm trying really hard to work on this but am not gaining much progress.
4. I HATE to talk on the phone. I'm not a big talker as is, but it's seriously almost like pulling my teeth out at times to get me to make a phone call. (Explains a lot to most of you who know me I'm sure)
5. Whenever I do laundry I never seem to finish it completely. The last load always sits in the dryer for at least three days or until I do laundry again. And for some reason it always seems to be the whites. In fact, they're sitting in there right now!
6. I love to read good enthralling books. My idea of getting away and relaxing is sitting down, with no distractions, and reading a good book.
7. I love to do crafty things but very rarely ever do them.
8. I love pajamas. I wear jeans and stuff to leave the house but as soon as I get back I change back into my pj's.
9. I don't like to wear shoes and socks. That's another thing that immediately comes off when I get home. I love flips flops and my slippers but that's it.
10. I'm a germ freak! I'm constantly washing my hands! I can't go more than an hour with out washing them or else I just feel dirty. Luke used to make fun of me because whenever we'd go out to eat I'd sit down, wouldn't touch anything, and then as soon as we ordered and gave the nasty menus back to the server I'd go straight to the bathroom and wash my hands. He now does it with me! Haha
11. I'm very easily annoyed. I especially can't stand to listen to other people chew!
12. I love to play the piano. I don't play very well but I still love to play! We don't have a piano so I haven't played in forever! But I want a piano very badly, in fact we have a "MaKayle's Piano Monies" container where all our spare change goes. Someday we'll have one!
13. I'm a very cheap and frugal person. I clip coupons, shop the ads, and very rarely ever by anything that's not needed. "Use it up. Wear it out. Make it do. Or do without!" That's my motto! I only get new clothes for my birthday, Christmas, or when I'm pregnant. And I haven't bought a new pair of shoes in over a year! - Very different than how I used to be in high school!
14. I'm a people watcher. I could sit in the mall food court or at the airport and just "observe" people for hours! Anybody know of any jobs that I could do this for a living!?
15. Speaking of jobs...I love to care for people! (Hence being a nurse) I love my job!
16. I didn't want to be a nurse. I fought it sooo bad! And was praying that I wouldn't get into nursing school. But I love it now and am sooo glad that I listened to the promptings to go that direction.
17. I am a very tender hearted person. When I was little I use to cry and yell at my brother and dad for killing the "bunnies" on the farm. (They were getting rid of the jack rabbits that would ruin everything. I understand that now, would still not want to watch it, but I understand it and wouldn't get mad at them.)
18. I love Lucy. I could watch it for hours on end! In fact, I have! I've seen all nine seasons about four times now!
19. I pick at my hang nails and tare them off. Horrid habit!
20. I love getting back in touch with old friends and finding blogs of people I haven't seen in ages!
21. I love to play Dr. Mario on the Nintendo and am so glad that I married someone who had it! Hehe.
22. I wish I was a journal writer. I have tried, unsuccessfully, SO many times to keep a journal and will do so good for about a week and then nothing. Luke picked it up about a year after we'd been married and the very last line in it was "I've decided to go on a mission."
23. Ever since about the fall of 2002 I have wanted to go on a mission. And I am still determined that someday I will go!
24. I have a freckle smack dab in the middle of my left palm.
25. I didn't realize before starting this that it could be so hard to think up 25 things about myself!

Twilight the Movie

I'm still not too sure if I'm excited or not (still not sure if it can live up to my expectations and compete with the movie in my head from reading the book) but from all that I've read and seen so far, I think it might actually be a pretty good movie. . .

My Little Model

Whenever I come with the camera and tell Peanut to smile she just cheeses up and giggles! It is so cute! -She has to be in the right mood of course. But she's still my cutest little model ever!

We went to the doctor yesterday and everything checked out well. She's still throwing up but that's just something we're going to have to live with 'til she fully recovers and starts to regulate the fluid in her belly. Her belly has gotten big and full of fluid again but we chose not to get it drained at this time because Peanut doesn't seem that uncomfortable with it yet. When it starts to really bother her or affect her breathing then we'll think about having it drained. But for now we're hoping that she'll get rid of the fluid on her own, well sort of on her own because she's still on Lasix. Even with all the throwing up she's not dehydrated and she's still gaining weight so the doctor's not worried about it. It's just a pain for me to be doing laundry 20 times a day. But all is well in Zion! ;)

I can't believe that she'll be turning one soon! It's gone by way too fast! I've started a list of things that we need/want to get her for her birthday...

1. Car seat upgrade
2. Shopping cart play cover
3. Fun toys that will help her "catch back up"

If anyone has any suggestions (like what car seat's the best, opinions on shopping car covers, or fun toys that your kids have loved and have been the most beneficial, etc.) we'd greatly appreciated them!
